Drawing from Hidden Gems, the Movie Underwent Major Script Overhauls to Enhance its Raw Action Sequences.
Prawin Ayvukth, known for his work in short films, set out to make a splash in the world of commercial cinema. He teamed up with actor Rajavardan, famed for his roles in historical films like Bicchugatti and the romantic drama Pranayam, to bring his creative vision to fruition. In Prawin’s directorial debut, Hiranya, Rajavardan embraces a new role as an action hero, departing from his usual on-screen persona.
The film drew inspiration from lesser-known movies and underwent significant script revisions to amplify its raw action sequences. In this suspenseful thriller, the seemingly blissful life of a wealthy couple is abruptly shattered when the husband tragically dies in a car accident shortly after their wedding. Months later, the widow gives birth to their child, only to discover that both she and the baby are being targeted by a mysterious assassin. Despite numerous attempts, the assassin fails to harm the child. Sensing the looming danger, the mother turns to her friend Dileep, a steadfast police inspector, for protection.
Driven by desperation to fulfill his sinister mission, the assassin hires a local thug to either abduct or eliminate the baby. The thug recruits Raana (portrayed by Rajavardan), a skilled operative perfect for the job. Raana finds himself at odds with the police as he kidnaps the baby. However, as Raana attempts to carry out his task, an unforeseen event alters his course. He transitions from a potential assailant to a guardian, now dedicated to safeguarding the child while navigating the perilous pursuit by both law enforcement and criminal elements.
The narrative of the film poses a haunting question: who truly poses the greatest threat—the zealous police inspector (Dileep Shetty), the ruthless underworld figure, or the unexpected hero? Beginning as a gripping suspense story, the plot unfolds to reveal layers of emotional depth intertwined with thrilling action sequences. It explores the evolving dynamic between Raana, depicted with a raw and animalistic demeanor, and the challenges he faces in his transformation from a hired gun to a protector.
In the movie “Hiranya,” we see the stark contrast between Dileep Shetty, a determined police officer with a compelling backstory, and Raana, a character grappling with inner conflicts. Abhinaya, portrayed by Rihana, adds a poignant touch to the narrative as a grieving widow on a mission to rescue her kidnapped child. Divya Suresh’s fleeting appearance injects elements of dance and mystery into the storyline.
The film “Hiranya,” aptly tagged as “Hitman,” delves into the complexities of morality, portraying a tale that goes beyond mere action sequences. It prompts viewers to reflect on how unforeseen events and choices can shape our lives during times of turmoil. The unexpected journey of Hiranya in safeguarding a kidnapped infant unfolds as a thrilling blend of action and drama.
